Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the cricket season. In fact I haven’t seen much action myself. Life is so busy nowadays that it has become difficult to find time. Speaking of which, I have some news…
Sadly I have decided to call it stumps on a full toss. I’ve been closing the blog for a while now and, after being at the crease for almost 15 years, it’s finally time to retire. I’ve managed to keep things going over the past few years thanks to our awesome team of guest contributors. However, the editing is starting to take a hit as well.
I’m also about to start a new full-time job after freelancing for years, so now seems like a natural time to call it off. I want to give 100% to my new role without any distractions. I would rather write about property than cricket. It’s not as exciting but possibly more important. After all, houses cost more than Lord’s Test tickets. Just now.
Although I have no immediate plans to blog about cricket again, at least for the time being, there is always the slightest possibility that TFT may return in some form in the future. If The Ashes is particularly exciting and inspires me, I might even be tempted to write a weird article. However, that’s the end of it as far as maintaining a blog that publishes regular content is concerned. However, our back catalog will live on.
So what can I say? I think the word I’m looking for is ‘thank you’. It has been a wonderful journey. And I really appreciate all your support, encouragement and comments. We’ve built a great cricket community and I’ll certainly miss you all – especially those of you who have been with us since the beginning.
When Maxi and I founded The Full Toss so many years ago, our goal was to create something that was recognizable and relevant. And I think we have almost achieved it. At one point, about three years ago, we had over 1,000 subscribers and regularly over 2,000 views per day. However, all good things must come and end. And, sadly, it has become very difficult to keep things going.
Before I sign off, I would just like to say that running the full toss has been a great experience. I totally recommend blogging! My only disappointment is that we didn’t beat Jimmy Anderson, who was a bit of an idiot when this all started. Well, I guess having less stamina than the most relentless cricketer of modern times is no disgrace.
Thanks again everyone. Take care! Let’s look forward to an exciting Ashes series.
encourage,
james
